Osun High Court Sentences 30-Year-Old to Death for Killing Elderly Woman at Palm Oil Site
A 30-year-old man, Agboola Taiwo, has been sentenced to death by hanging by an Osun State High Court sitting in Ile-Ife. Taiwo was convicted for the murder of 62-year-old Jadesola Olubayo on October 11, 2023, at a palm oil processing site near the Amula River in Olokemeji Village, Ifetedo. The court found that he chased and overpowered the victim, killing her by smashing her face with a stone and a stick. Justice Adedapo Adeniji ruled that the prosecution proved the case beyond reasonable doubt. Taiwo also received 14 years’ imprisonment for attempted rape and two years for indecent assault. His plea for leniency was rejected.
