How Nuhu Ribadu’s Intelligence Strategy Is Crippling Terror Networks
Mallam Nuhu Ribadu’s tenure as National Security Adviser has shifted Nigeria’s counter-terrorism approach from reaction to proactive logistics disruption. Under his leadership, ONSA has fused intelligence across the military, police, DSS, NDLEA, and joint task forces. This coordination enabled precision strikes and ambushes that cut off fuel, ammunition, medicine, and food destined for Boko Haram, ISWAP, bandits, and affiliates. Key operations from October 2025 to April 2026 include the April air strikes on ISWAP waterway supply routes near Lake Chad, arrests of over 53 logistics suppliers in a single week, and nationwide seizures of weapons convoys linked to kidnappings. These actions demonstrate the power of “logistics strangulation” to degrade insurgent lifelines. While challenges remain in remote forests and border corridors, sustained intelligence primacy under Ribadu’s guidance promises a turning point. Continued focus on ISR, community networks, and cross-border cooperation could finally sever terror supply chains for good.
