2027 Elections: Adamu, Omo-Agege, Chinda and Others Retain Places on INEC’s Final Candidate List
INEC’s final list of candidates for the 2027 elections includes several politicians whose eligibility had been questioned after the Supreme Court restored strict rules on party membership registers and primaries. The ruling requires parties to use membership registers submitted to INEC at least 21 days before primaries. It raised concerns for candidates who changed parties, secured waivers or emerged through substitution processes during the nomination period. Among those listed are Mohammed Adamu for Nasarawa governor under the SDP, Kingsley Chinda for Rivers governor under the APC, Ovie Omo-Agege for Delta Central Senate under the NDC, Shehu Buba for Bauchi governor under the PRP, and Saliu Mustapha for Kwara Central Senate under the PDP. Victor Ochei was also listed as the NDC candidate for Delta North Senate. Their publication by INEC confirms their places on the final list, although any separate legal challenge to their nominations would still be decided by the courts.
