Abuja Court Sentences Man to 20 Years for Shielding Notorious Bandit

Abuja Court Sentences Man to 20 Years for Shielding Notorious Bandit

On July 13, a Federal High Court in Abuja handed Muhammad Sani a 20-year prison term for concealing information about Danranmi, a wanted bandit. He was convicted on two counts under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022. The court found that on January 9, 2023 in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Sani conspired to hide Danranmi’s identity and supply arms to kidnappers. He also failed to report what he knew to security agencies. Justice Nwite ordered that the sentence run from Sani’s arrest date, January 11, 2023, at Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja. Security officials say this conviction underscores efforts to cripple banditry and terror financing.
