I am a trained Teacher with well over 10 years of teaching experiences across different states in Nigeria. I completed my HND in 2020 when I was still 26. I initially planned to take like a year break and get a job but it has not been easy. I got a job but the pay is barely enough to pay my bills not to talk of education. To cut the story short sha, I am currently 30.

One coach who has made a mark in his career in Nigeria as a football coach, is Benue born Coach Lawrence James Ekele.

He has done just not himself proud, but his state of origin and country.

Kick starting off his career at the prestigious National Institute for Sports (NIS) in Lagos Nigeria far back in 2011, he has gathered experience and recorded successes at several engagements since then.

Same 2011, he served Aspire Africa Football Dream as coordinator, before joining Heartland FC Owerri in 2012.

Based on his track records, he was engaged by Zamfara United FC Gusau in 2013, where he spent a year, before joining DSS FC Kaduna Nigeria in 2015.

Perhaps, DSS FC had a strong hold on him, as he spent five years with the team, before quitting in 2020.

While with DSS FC, he secured the first ever trophy for Nigeria from the World U-19 DANA Cup in Denmark, 

Coach Lawrence James Ekele based on that feat, is still being sought by several teams in Europe and Asia.

As the Head Coach of Kaduna based Dynamic Sporting Solutions (DSS) Football Club, he trounced top football countries to reach the final of the DANA cup in 2016, where they went ahead to beat highly rated United States of America. 

That victory though painful for the Germans, but endeared the coach of the winning country, Nigeria to them and several teams from that country have since been after him to append his signature on a contract that would see him inspire their teams to victory. 

That this stroke of success came about just five years after he left the National Institute of Sports (NIS), Lagos, shows that besides what he learnt there, he actually had some in built coaching talent bottled up inside of him. 

The Idoma-born coach, shortly after his course at NIS was recruited as an intern in Heartland of Owerri in 2012. 

He joined the services of Zamfara United in 2013 and was there for a season as an assistant coach, before he moved to DSS as Head Coach in 2015. 

It would be recalled that in an exclusive chat after the DANA Cup victory, he told our reporter that winning the DANA Cup didn’t come without challenges. 

He explained that on arrival in Denmark, they barely rested before being handed down their match schedules.

“As soon as we stepped into Denmark, we were given the matches fixture and we thrashed Germany 6-0 in our first match. Most times we didn’t rest at all, even playing two matches in a day,” he said. 

He further explained that as Africa’s only representatives at the competition, they did not just get an easy sail, but slugged it out in a qualifiers held in Togo, where they finished tops. 

Coach Ekele praised President of DSS FC, Chief Sunday Adeleye for single handedly bankrolling all their trips right from the qualifiers to securing travel visas and tickets to Denmark.

His career continued at Futures of Africa International Academy Kaduna Nigeria in 2021, while his most recent stint was at Kebbi State Team Academy, from 2022 to 2023, which is being reviewed by the current administration in the state.

I happen to work in a place, precisely a school where the principal a very virtuous, prayerful woman passed on,she was a co founder of the school alongside her husband.
At her demise the husband being the Director of the school decided to give promotions or suffice to say upgrade to some high level staff.
The Vice principal was elevated to the post of being a principal, and some others to various positions, just to put things in order.
The issue here is that the man rarely gets involved in the academic running of the school unlike when the wife was alive whom was a thorough bred academician. The new heads and the new principal however are acting outside professional conduct.
The principal discusses parents private issues with any person, she insults parents though not in their presence, become petty with those not in the clique of yes-men and even coming to the point of allowing some persons to go scot free for gross misconduct, which rarely happens before, she can even leave her office and hang around in an office which is not hers to gossip a fellow staff with a staff, to the point of even a cleaner.
The school is against malpractice but she clandestinely have her goons perpetrate it. The Director yet to know about it because of the water tight secret group.
In this case,most parents are complaining about the visible decline of the standard of the institution, but the top cadre tries to mop up the stench and kill the issue before it goes to the top. The Director has given a platform to give Intel about any misconduct, but most are yet hesitant to say anything.

I See Edo As Best Sub-National State In 10 Years — Ighodalo

... Challenges youths to get involved in political process to elect quality leadership

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September governorship election in Edo State, Dr Asue Ighodalo, has said he sees the state competing as the best sub-national state in the country and Africa in the next 10 Years.

He said as a state, hugely blessed with highly talented and creative individuals, such enormous talent if well harnessed, can turn the state around completely for the good of all.

Ighodalo stated this on Tuesday at a programme, THINKERS NEST, with the theme ‘The Future of Edo State’ which was organized by the Benson Idahosa University (BIU) in collaboration with International Leadership Ideas Exchange (ILIEX) and held at the BIU Legacy Campus, Okha, Benin-Sapele Road, Benin City.

The discussion ostensibly designed to feature all the three front runners in the election, was to make the candidates talk to the staff and students of the institution on the chosen theme of the day. Tuesday saw Ighodalo taking the first shot. The candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Olumide Akpata will feature on Wednesday while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen Monday Okpebholo, will take his turn on Thursday.

During the question and answer session from students of the institution which was moderated by the President of BUI, Rt Rev Dr F.E.B. Idahosa, who also doubled as the Chief Host, Ighodalo stressed the need for leaders to be compassionate, saying that if leaders exhibit considerable compassion for the people and really love the people, they will find it easier to serve them well by engaging in things that will meet the yearnings and aspirations of the masses. He argued that unless leaders love the people, they can’t serve them well.

“I see Edo State that will be the best sub-national government in Nigeria and indeed Africa. I see a future that will inspire, empower and uplift all its citizens from lack, want and poverty to prosperity in Edo State. And that is why I want to challenge all of us to get involved so as to elect leaders that will serve with love and compassion. Except leaders genuinely love the people, there is no way they can serve them well.

“As for you guys, be determined to work hard and be able to differentiate between right and wrong. Let your word be your bond. Be accountable and respectful. Integrity is key. These are values that you need to get going because they will take you to very high places. Let people know you to be straight forward, a person who will not cut corners and cheat others just to make it.”

Ighodalo emphasized that there is a lot that the state can do to get to a first world sub-national state. He challenged everyone to put on their thinking caps, stressing that Edo is no more a civil service state. He said Edo has since moved beyond that tag and challenge people to go and see what is going on at Ikpoba Okha and other giant steps that have been taken by government.

Ighodalo promised to continue with whatever programme of government that is good and tweak anyone that is not being well implemented so that the people can get value from their government. He made reference to the privatization of refineries by former President Olusegun Obasanjo which his successor, late President Umaru Yar’Adua revised and how today Nigeria is paying heavily for that decision.

He called on the students not to be passive when it comes governance and administration. “Get involved. You own this country. You have to determine the direction of the country by getting in there, and ensuring that you participate fully”, he admonished.

Before he left the stage, he promised a Law student that he would get her to work in his Law firm.
