From Reading News to My Grandfather to Producing My Own Films
I grew up in Zaria with my grandparents, where I first fell in love with storytelling by writing down television news and reading it back to my grandfather. Although I planned to become a broadcaster, studying English and Theatre Arts at Ahmadu Bello University led me towards acting, television production and filmmaking. After working as a producer and presenter at Linda Ikeji TV and as a live host on Wake Up Nigeria, I built experience on screen and behind the scenes. My acting credits include King of Boys: The Return of the King, Sista, Dwindle, Set Up 2 and The Men’s Club: Next Gen. I later founded Bayla Productions to create original African stories with more intention. My debut feature, A Summer for Fountain, explores family, grief, love and emotional fulfilment. The film has passed 3.6 million views, and I hope my work encourages people to value the time they have with loved ones while pursuing their ambitions.
