My Wife Wants a ₦1 Million Money Cake, but I Prefer a Quiet Birthday

My birthday is on 16 November, and since we started dating, my wife has always gone out of her way to make it special. I appreciate the love, time and effort she puts into every celebration. The challenge is that I prefer quiet birthdays. I would rather spend quality time with her, go on a simple date or just relax. My wife enjoys grand surprises and does not mind making a big occasion out of my day. This year, she plans to surprise me with a ₦1 million money cake that could cost another ₦200,000 to make. I know it comes from love, but I feel the extra expense is unnecessary, especially as she will be outside Nigeria at the time. I have tried to tell her that my happiness should guide the celebration, but she sees the surprise as her own way of expressing love. It is a sweet problem, but I am still wondering how we can meet in the middle.
