Rivers SWAT Foils Kidnap Attempt, Arrest Suspect and Seize AK-47s
In the early hours of March 20, Port Harcourt SWAT operatives responded to a distress call from a resident who narrowly escaped an abduction attempt in the GRA area. A recovered mobile phone led officers to Joseph Abibo, a suspected gang member. During a raid on the hideout, operatives came under heavy fire. Six suspects fled into a nearby river with gunshot wounds. Police recovered two AK-47 rifles, four magazines and 108 rounds of ammunition. A coordinated manhunt is now underway to apprehend the fleeing members. The Rivers State Police Command urges residents to stay vigilant and share any credible information. The force reaffirms its commitment to protecting lives and property.
