Real Madrid Defender Raúl Asencio Convicted of Drink-Driving
Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio has been convicted in Gran Canaria for driving under the influence of alcohol. A court source said he was found to have driven with more than three times the legal alcohol limit after an incident on 16 August. The 23-year-old was recovering from a hamstring injury at the time and was not with the Real Madrid squad. He has missed the start of the 2026–27 season through injury. Asencio is also due in court over a separate allegation involving the non-consensual sharing of a sexual video from 2023. Three former Real Madrid reserve players are also facing trial in connection with the case.
