Lessons from the Last Supper (Matthew 26:17-30)
On the day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, Jesus tells his disciples to prepare the Passover meal at a specific house. As they eat together, he warns one of them will betray him. Jesus identifies the betrayer and speaks of the Son of Man’s destiny, pronouncing a solemn woe on the one who betrays him. Judas questions his role and Jesus confirms it. Jesus then breaks bread, calling it his body, and shares a cup representing his blood of the new covenant, poured out for the forgiveness of sins. After singing a hymn, they depart for the Mount of Olives.
