Private Schools Should Stop Forcing Parents to Buy Non-Reusable Textbooks

I think the government needs to urgently address private schools that force parents to buy customised textbooks for their children. Growing up, we could buy recommended books from any bookshop. If money was tight, parents could buy fairly used copies or borrow books from people who had completed the class. Now, many schools design textbooks with spaces for assignments and classwork inside them. Once a child writes in the book, it cannot be reused by younger siblings or sold as a second-hand copy. This means parents must buy a fresh set every year. This puts serious pressure on parents with several children in private schools. I recently saw one school's book list costing almost ₦70,000 for textbooks alone. Things are becoming increasingly difficult in this country.
