AGF Fagbemi Leads Prosecution as Sowore’s Defamation Trial Continues
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, led the prosecution team in Omoyele Sowore’s alleged criminal-defamation trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters and a former AAC presidential candidate, is being prosecuted by the DSS over a social-media post that allegedly described President Bola Tinubu as “a criminal.” The charges include criminal defamation, cyberstalking and incitement. During proceedings, Fagbemi asked the court to reject a subpoena seeking the testimony of DSS Director-General Oluwatisin Ajayi. He argued that the request was intended to delay the case, noting that a DSS official had already testified for the defence at an earlier sitting.
