UK Tribunal Upholds Sacking of IT Worker Who Sent Colleague ‘Prophetic Dream’ Love Messages
A UK employment appeal tribunal has upheld the dismissal of an IT worker who sent a female colleague romantic messages after claiming they had met in his prophetic dreams. The former senior computer analyst said the woman had appeared to him before they met and inspired his poetry and songwriting. She later complained that his messages and poems, including one comparing her scent to flowers in the Garden of Eden, made her uncomfortable. His employer dismissed him for gross misconduct in 2022. The tribunal found that his belief in prophetic dreams was not protected under equality law and ruled that the amorous messages amounted to unwanted sexual conduct. His appeal has now been dismissed.
