WAEC Candidates in Oyo Sit Practical Exam in Darkness, Use Lanterns and Phone Lights

Candidates for the 2026 WAEC Agricultural Science practical in Oyo State sat in total darkness. They relied on lanterns and phone flashlights due to a sudden power outage. A video shared online captured the challenging scene. Parents have raised alarm over late delivery of exam materials and the safety risks of keeping students at centres after nightfall. Many candidates waited for hours before receiving their papers. Pastor S.O. Solarin criticised the delays and urged the West African Examinations Council to explain the situation to parents and communities. He warned that prolonged waits could expose students to security threats given the current climate.
