When a Favour Becomes a Tool for Control

There is an old wisdom worth remembering: never borrow an axe from someone who counts every stroke you make with it. Not every act of help is freely given. Some people offer money, opportunities or support, then later expect obedience in return. They may repeatedly remind you of what they did whenever you disagree with them. Gratitude is important, but it should not cost you your judgment or freedom. Appreciate those who help you, but recognise when a favour is being used to control you.
