US-Iran Conflict Expands as Diplomacy Fails and Regional Tensions Rise

The conflict involving the United States and Iran is widening rather than moving towards a settlement. Diplomatic efforts have repeatedly failed, while Iran-linked attacks have reportedly reached Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq and other parts of the region. Saudi Arabia, which had initially sought to avoid direct involvement, has joined US strikes on targets in Iraq linked to attacks on its energy infrastructure. Fourteen countries have also backed a maritime coalition aimed at protecting Red Sea shipping routes amid Houthi threats. Iran and its allied forces can impose serious costs by disrupting trade and targeting US partners. However, the analysis argues that Tehran has not secured a clear military or diplomatic advantage, as regional opposition to Iranian-backed forces continues to grow.
