Plateau Christian Leaders Allege Army Aided Militias, Demolished Homes in Mangu
Tension has risen in Mangu, Plateau State after Christian leaders claimed soldiers escorted Fulani militias during attacks on civilians. Witnesses say military armoured vehicles struck homes, including that of a Catholic evangelist sheltering his children. Rev. Fr. Joseph Wulemgbe and Pastor Timothy Luka of the Christian Association described chaos as militants ambushed youths at a mining site. They allege the army shifted from peacekeeping to targeting villagers, leaving over 10 wounded and at least one dead. The clerics are demanding answers from state and federal authorities. An army spokesperson said she was unaware of any deliberate destruction and will investigate the reports.
