Rebuild the Road to ABUAD While Afe Babalola Can See It
Aare Afe Babalola, now 98, built Afe Babalola University in Ado-Ekiti at an age when many people would have retired. ABUAD stands as a major investment in education and a lasting contribution to Nigeria. Yet the road leading to the university remains in a deplorable state. Although Baba reportedly spends personal funds on temporary repairs, the rains often wash them away. A federal road cannot be permanently maintained by one individual, regardless of his commitment. I have been informed that the Minister of Works will inspect federal roads in Ekiti this week. I appeal to him to travel on the ABUAD road, meet Aare Afe Babalola and ensure that a lasting reconstruction is approved. This is more than a request for a road. It is an opportunity for the government to honour a man whose investment continues to serve students, workers, patients and visitors from across Nigeria.
