Chowdeck CEO Says Riders Can Earn ₦100,000 Weekly, but Costs Remain
Chowdeck CEO Femi Aluko says the company’s average rider earns at least ₦100,000 weekly, while high-performing riders can make more. He said earnings depend on the number of deliveries completed, distance covered and hours worked. According to Aluko, riders who work about 10 hours daily may complete 10 to 15 deliveries. However, the figures are gross earnings, not guaranteed salaries. Riders still have to cover costs such as bicycle maintenance. The work also involves traffic, harsh weather and accident risks on Lagos roads. Chowdeck says it provides personal accident insurance for more than 20,000 active riders, including support for medical expenses and temporary disability. Aluko added that some students use delivery work in the evenings to pay school fees and meet other expenses.
