Man Allegedly Shoots Wife Dead Over Cleaning Dispute Before Trip
Louisville police say a 57-year-old husband shot his wife after she asked him to tidy the house before a planned trip. Officers arrived at 4:16 p.m. on March 14, 2026, and found Carolyn Ross-Brents had been shot in the abdomen. According to court records, the couple argued when Carolyn reminded her husband to clean up. Patrick Brents then retrieved a gun from their bedroom. A witness pleaded with him not to shoot, but Brents allegedly fired anyway. The witness ran outside to call for help. Brents stayed at the scene and has since been charged with domestic violence assault. He claims the weapon went off accidentally as he was leaving the home.
