A Biblical Interpretation of Iran, Israel and Global Power
I question why Iran is widely portrayed as a threat to global peace. I point to the biblical account of Cyrus of Persia, whose decree supported the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem after exile. I argue that modern accusations against Iran should be weighed against the historical destruction of the Second Temple by Roman forces in 70 AD. I also interpret biblical passages about Esau, Rome and end-times powers as relating to present-day Israel, the United States and Iran. These claims are presented as a religious and political interpretation. They are not established historical evidence that Iran’s 1979 revolution or its government is controlled by foreign powers.
