Why Some Nigerian First-Class Graduates Miss Erasmus Mundus Scholarships
A First Class degree can strengthen an Erasmus Mundus application, but it does not guarantee admission or scholarship funding. Each programme is managed by a separate university consortium, with its own eligibility rules and scoring system. One common setback is a mismatch between your transcript and the programme’s required subject credits. Some courses require a minimum number of credits in fields such as economics, social sciences, business or research. A high CGPA may not help if your undergraduate modules do not meet that requirement. Applicants can also lose out by relying only on grades. Research experience, volunteering, leadership, tailored motivation letters and detailed references may carry substantial weight. A candidate with a lower CGPA but stronger relevant experience can score higher overall. Do not assume a Medium of Instruction letter will replace IELTS or TOEFL. Confirm the language policy directly with the specific programme coordinator before applying. Review the exact entry requirements, credit prerequisites and scholarship criteria before paying for documents or writing your application.
