Plateau’s Education Revolution: New Classrooms and Solar-Powered SUBEB Hub
Governor Caleb Mutfwang has declared an end to years of neglect in Plateau State schools. He launched a statewide distribution of learning materials and opened a modern, solar-powered administrative block at the SUBEB headquarters in Jos. Since July 2023, his administration has built 397 new classrooms and renovated 557 others. Thousands of desks arrived, and 33 motorized boreholes were drilled to boost water and sanitation in learning centres. The new 19-office block is fully powered by green solar energy. Funded through overhead allocations, it stands as a symbol of sustainable and disciplined resource management. At the ceremony, Governor Mutfwang honoured pupils who excelled at the National Basic Education School Sports Competition. The Education Commissioner called the rollout a “triple milestone,” and UBEC praised the state’s fiscal discipline on education funding.
