T-Pain Sues Akon’s Konvict Entertainment Over Alleged $489,047 Royalty Shortfall

American singer and rapper T-Pain has filed a lawsuit against Akon’s Konvict Entertainment, alleging that the label withheld $489,047 in music royalties. Court filings state that Konvict allegedly received $1.3 million from a distributor in March 2026 for sales generated by T-Pain’s music in the second half of 2025. T-Pain says his 2005 recording agreement entitles him to 75 per cent of the label’s net royalties from distributors. He alleges that although he received $489,047 in June, the payment was only half of the amount due. T-Pain claims the outstanding balance was sent to affiliate label BuVision, but efforts to recover it were unsuccessful. The suit is T-Pain’s second royalty dispute with Konvict Entertainment. A previous case filed in 2018 was settled in 2025, when the label agreed to pay $114,000 without admitting liability.
