Super Eagles Could Face Tanzania in Lagos as Teslim Balogun Stadium Awaits CAF Approval
The Super Eagles may play their home AFCON qualifier against Tanzania at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos rather than in Uyo. The Nigeria Football Federation is reportedly considering the venue change, but the reason has not been confirmed. Nigeria has used the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo for most home matches since 2022. Teslim Balogun Stadium is undergoing renovation, including work on its natural grass pitch and other facilities. CAF must inspect and approve the stadium before it can host the qualifier. Nigeria are expected to host Tanzania in the first leg before travelling to Zanzibar City for the return fixture. A return to Lagos could draw a sizeable crowd if the proposed move is approved.
