NDEIS Threatens Legal Action Over Chamber’s Trademark Infringement

NDEIS Threatens Legal Action Over Chamber’s Trademark Infringement — 1 of 8
1 / 8

A legal battle is brewing in the Niger Delta region after the promoters of the Niger Delta Economic and Investment Summit raised trademark infringement concerns against the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture. The Summit’s founder, Ambassador Kenule Nwiya Junior, and his legal team accuse the Chamber of organising a rival event under the identical name. They argue the NDEIS brand was registered in 2023, long before the Chamber’s establishment. Trademark filings with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and publication in the Trademark Journal have confirmed exclusive rights to the summit’s name and acronym. The legal notice demands the withdrawal of promotional materials and warns of injunctions and damage claims if the Chamber proceeds with its planned May 2026 event. NDEIS has also warned authorities against official endorsements of the Chamber’s event, insisting on full rebranding within a strict compliance timeline to avoid litigation.
