Shocking Assault in Japan: Woman Sewed Roommate’s Lips Shut
A woman in eastern Japan has been arrested after allegedly sewing her 42-year-old roommate’s lips shut with needle and thread. The victim managed to flee the home in Ibaraki Prefecture once her attacker left and rushed to a nearby shop wearing a mask to hide the gruesome injury. Unable to speak, the victim held up a handwritten sign reading “Please help me,” prompting a shop employee to alert police. Investigators say the attacker, 49-year-old Masae Sakurai, may have been enraged by a dispute before carrying out the assault. Local reports indicate the thread passed through the inside of the victim’s mouth, making it hard to spot at first. Neighbours say Sakurai often took in runaways and helped them find work. She now faces charges of assault following the horrifying incident.
