Police Hunt Authors of Fake Training Notice for 50,000 Recruits
The Nigeria Police Force has disowned a forged statement claiming that the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, ordered the training of 50,000 newly recruited constables. The false notice circulated on WhatsApp and social media using police letterhead and the name of Force Public Relations Officer CSP Ani Iniedu. It instructed applicants to check the police recruitment portal from September 14, 2026, for training locations and resumption dates. Police said the statement was neither issued nor authorised by the Force. Recruitment candidates have been advised to ignore unofficial messages and rely only on verified police communication channels. The Force said it is tracking those behind the forged document and will take legal action against anyone found responsible.
