Anambra Opens Adolescent-Friendly Health Corners in Six Primary Healthcare Centres

Anambra Opens Adolescent-Friendly Health Corners in Six Primary Healthcare Centres — 1 of 4
1 / 4

Anambra State has established adolescent-friendly corners in six primary healthcare centres across Aguata, Ogbaru and Idemili South LGAs. The spaces are intended to give young people confidential, affordable and respectful access to health services, including sexual and reproductive health support. The beneficiary centres are located in Aguata, Oye Achina, Odekpe, Okpoko 2, Oba 1 and Alor. They have received educational and recreational materials such as television sets, books, games, table-tennis equipment and skipping ropes to make the facilities more welcoming. The initiative is supported by Jhpiego and funded through the Global Fund and the National AIDS and STIs Control Programme. Officials say it will help reduce stigma and other barriers that discourage adolescents from seeking care at primary healthcare centres.
