FG Promises Payment of Civil Servants’ Two-Month Wage Award by August 15

FG Promises Payment of Civil Servants’ Two-Month Wage Award by August 15

The Federal Government has directed that the outstanding two-month wage award owed to federal civil servants be paid on or before August 15, 2026. The decision followed a meeting between the Finance Ministry and the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council. The agreement led the council to suspend its August 11 ultimatum over unresolved workers’ welfare issues, averting a possible labour confrontation. The government also said it would work with the Budget Office to provide funding for the long-awaited 40 per cent peculiar allowance through a supplementary budget. Officials further said payment issues affecting promotion arrears for batches seven and nine had been resolved. Labour leaders said they remain committed to defending workers’ welfare through continued engagement with the government.
