Gumi Warns Nigeria Against Relying on Foreign Forces for Aerial Strikes

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi addressed the recent joint US-Nigerian operation that killed top ISIS commander Abu-Bilal Al-Minuki. He said no one should mourn a terrorist’s death but every patriot should mourn any breach of national sovereignty. Speaking on his official social media, Gumi argued that bombing stationary targets is well within the capacity of the Nigerian military. He questioned why foreign troops were needed to carry out such strikes on Nigerian soil. The scholar and former army captain urged citizens to defend sovereignty. He maintained that Nigeria’s armed forces can eliminate terror threats without external involvement.
