True Gratitude Looks to God, Not Other People’s Pain
True gratitude is not built on comparing our lives with the struggles of others. Saying “thank God it is not me” can turn thanksgiving into comparison rather than a sincere recognition of God’s goodness. Scripture teaches us to give thanks in every circumstance. This does not mean every experience is good or painless. It means God remains faithful, merciful and worthy of trust through both joy and difficulty. Let gratitude rise from who God is, not from what others lack. Ask yourself: is my thanksgiving rooted in God’s goodness, or in comparing my life with someone else’s? Lord, purify my heart and teach me to give thanks without comparison. Help me trust Your goodness in every circumstance. Amen.
