Kogi Varsity Celebration Turns Fatal as Student Stabbed in Cult Clash
A 300-level student at Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, was fatally stabbed during the Final Year Brethren (FYB) celebration on June 11, 2026. The victim, Ocholi David Ojima—known as Dior—served as the Aye cult’s Chief Butcher. According to an anti-cultism group, rival cultists arrived at the event and began intimidating students. Tensions flared when one Aye member stepped on the foot of a Jurist member. In the ensuing fight, the Jurist cultist drew a weapon and stabbed Dior in the chest before fleeing the scene. University management has since banned all campus celebrations until further notice. Events such as FYB, cultural nights, departmental and faculty gatherings are suspended to address serious security concerns and maintain peace on campus.
