EFCC Returns Recovered $104,950 to Businesswoman in Truck Procurement Fraud Case
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has returned $104,950 to a Nigerian businesswoman based in the United States after investigating an alleged fraud involving the purchase of 10 dump trucks from China. She said she transferred the funds to two Chinese companies on the instruction of a business associate, who later acknowledged receiving the money and agreed to refund it. Six trucks were delivered to Nigeria, but she alleged that the associate kept and used them without remitting proceeds to her. The EFCC said $48,950 had earlier been paid to her by the defendant, while the outstanding $56,000 was recovered and handed over at its Lagos Zonal Directorate. The commission said it would continue to pursue financial-crime investigations and ensure restitution for victims.
