WEPBI Launches Sister Guardian Initiative to Tackle Domestic Violence in Anambra Communities
Women Empowerment, Education and Peace Building Initiative has launched its Sister Guardian Initiative in Isuaniocha and Mgbakwu communities of Awka North, Anambra State. The project trains 10 influential women in each community to identify abuse, support survivors and promote peaceful resolution of domestic and gender-based violence cases. Participants include market leaders, health workers, women leaders and other community advocates. WEPBI said it will work with community stakeholders and security agencies, referring cases beyond local intervention to law enforcement. The initiative also seeks to recognise and address abuse affecting men and children.
