Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer says manager Xabi Alonso has given him greater freedom to drift across the pitch, drop deep, create chances and influence play. Palmer said the tactical change helped him make the run that led to his goal in Chelsea’s 3-2 Premier League win over Fulham. He added that he would not have made such a run under last season’s more restrictive tactical structure. The 24-year-old also joked about the “JP Morgan” nickname given to himself, Joao Pedro and Morgan Rogers by some Chelsea supporters. He said the trio have complementary qualities but need a better name.
