Rescue of Oriire Abductees Hailed as Collective Victory by Oyo Assembly Speaker

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly has described the safe rescue of abducted pupils, teachers and other victims in Oriire as a collective victory for all. He said the outcome brings relief and joy to families, communities and everyone who prayed for their return. He praised President Tinubu’s support and Governor Makinde’s leadership. He also commended security agencies, local vigilance groups and hunters for their coordinated efforts in ending this painful ordeal. Highlighting the need to strengthen Nigeria’s security framework, he called for the establishment of state police. He urged the National Assembly to fast-track the constitutional amendment process to decentralise policing and improve community-based crime prevention.
