Rivers United Captain Manyo Promises ‘Cup Final’ Display Against San Pedro
Rivers United captain Stephen Manyo says the team will treat Saturday’s CAF Champions League preliminary-round first leg against Côte d’Ivoire’s San Pedro like a cup final. The Pride of Rivers left Nigeria on Wednesday for the away fixture, scheduled for 5 September 2026. Manyo said a positive result would put the team in a strong position ahead of the return leg at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. He added that the players are well prepared after several weeks of training and are motivated by the club management’s ₦2 million reward following their opening win over Plateau United. Manyo said the continental campaign is also an opportunity for the club’s younger players to show their talent.
