Chemical Engineering or Electrical/Electronics: Best Degree for an E&I Career?

I am 28 with an HND in Chemistry and more than four years of oil and gas experience, mainly in instrumentation and electrical/instrumentation work. I currently support pre-commissioning and commissioning on a gas-processing project. My experience includes loop checks, valve stroking, instrument calibration and verification, troubleshooting, interpreting P&IDs and loop diagrams, Emerson DeltaV/CHARMs, DCS/SCADA, and process skids. I am considering a B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering or Electrical/Electronics Engineering. Chemical Engineering could lead towards process, production, gas processing and commissioning roles. Electrical/Electronics could deepen my path in E&I, automation, control and instrumentation. If you have experience in engineering, automation, E&I or oil and gas, which option would you recommend? What factors should I weigh before deciding?
