NSA Directorate, NUJ Move to Strengthen Reporting on Critical Infrastructure

The Directorate of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Protection, under the Office of the National Security Adviser, has sought a working partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists to promote accurate reporting on national infrastructure and security issues. During a visit to the NUJ National Secretariat, the delegation urged journalists to verify claims before publication, especially reports involving telecommunications and other essential service providers. It warned that unsubstantiated reports could mislead the public and weaken confidence in critical services. The NUJ welcomed the proposal and expressed readiness to collaborate. Both sides discussed a clear framework, training opportunities and media guidelines to help journalists report responsibly on infrastructure protection and national security.
