NAF Clarifies Civilian Passengers and Death Toll in Ondo Aircraft Crash
The Nigerian Air Force has clarified that 25 people were aboard its ATR 42 aircraft when it crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State. The total included 20 passengers and five active crew members, while two non-active crew members were listed among the passengers. The Air Force said the civilian passengers were family members travelling with officers to the same destination. It added that reports of 32 people on board resulted from confusion over aviation terminology, as “25 souls on board, inclusive of seven crew” refers to 25 people in total. The service said it has released verified details after search and recovery efforts and consultations with affected families. A full investigation into the crash is ongoing, while the Air Force says it is providing support to bereaved families.
