Nigerian Drug Trafficking Convict Recaptured After Liberia Prison Escape
Nigerian national Tony Obina, also known as Tony Obi, has reportedly been recaptured after escaping from Kakata Central Prison in Margibi County, Liberia. He was arrested on Sunday during a security operation involving law enforcement officers and local residents, according to reports from Liberia. Obina was said to have been attempting to leave the county after the prison breach. A jury at the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in Margibi County had convicted Obina and two officers of Liberia’s drug enforcement agency on September 8 in a cocaine trafficking case. The case involved cocaine said to be valued at about $181,008. Authorities are expected to investigate how the inmates escaped, locate other fugitives and address any security failures linked to the prison break.
