APC AMAC/Bwari Stakeholders Reject Consensus Candidate, Demand Fresh Primary
A group of aggrieved aspirants, stakeholders and delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency has petitioned the party’s national leadership over the alleged imposition of Hon. John Gabaya as the House of Representatives candidate. They filed separate petitions on June 1 and June 2, addressed to the APC National Chairman, the National Primary Appeal Committee and the Chief of Staff to the President, demanding the nullification of his nomination and the organisation of a lawful primary. The petitions, submitted through a legal firm in Abuja, allege that no valid primary election was held across any of the constituency’s 22 wards and that Gabaya was unilaterally imposed in violation of the APC Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022 and internal party guidelines. They also accuse a senatorial aspirant of hijacking the process to favour his brother-in-law and question Gabaya’s membership status and educational credentials. The stakeholders warn that this level of alleged nepotism risks deep divisions, voter apathy and legal challenges if not addressed. They are urging the party leadership to verify all credentials, cancel the purported nomination and organise an open, inclusive primary or consensus process that reflects the will of party members across AMAC and Bwari.
