I Supported My Girlfriend’s Mother Through a Long Illness—Then We Broke Up
I fell in love with an Mbaise woman during the COVID period, and we had been dating ever since. I grew close to her family, especially her mother. Her father had died years earlier, and her mother had started treating me like a future son-in-law. After my girlfriend was injured in an okada accident, I travelled to the hospital and helped care for her mother during her recovery. Over time, her mother lost a lot of weight and became frail, despite receiving food, medication and medical tests. The doctors could not identify what was making her ill. She died on September 29 last year. I had become deeply involved in supporting her through her illness. After her death, my girlfriend became my ex, but I have not explained what happened between us.
