Jesus in Gethsemane: A Moment of Sorrow and Submission
In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus leads Peter and the two sons of Zebedee to pray and keeps watch. Overwhelmed with sorrow, He asks them to stay awake while He moves farther and falls face down. He prays three times, asking for the cup to pass but ultimately submitting to the Father’s will. Each time He returns, He finds His disciples asleep and reminds them that the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Aware that His betrayer is near and the hour of His arrest has come, Jesus rises and calls His followers to move forward into His impending sacrifice.
