Nigerian Man Executed in Saudi Arabia for Cocaine Smuggling
Saudi Arabian authorities have executed a Nigerian national, Idris Ibrahim, in the Madinah region after his conviction for smuggling cocaine into the country. The Saudi Ministry of Interior said Ibrahim was arrested and charged following investigations. A court convicted him and imposed a discretionary death sentence. The verdict was upheld by the appeals court and Supreme Court before a royal order authorised its enforcement on August 24, 2026. The ministry said Saudi Arabia would continue to impose severe penalties for drug trafficking offences.
