Tems Recalls Hiding Her Identity During Her Early Rise to Fame

Nigerian singer Tems has said she initially struggled to adjust to global fame and tried to avoid public attention. Speaking on a podcast, she recalled denying that she was Tems when fans recognised her at airports. She said she wanted to keep a private life while continuing to make music. Tems left her digital marketing job in 2018 to pursue music and released her debut single, “Mr Rebel,” that same year.
