New York Mother and Grandmother Accused of Killing Four Children Before Dying by Suicide
Four siblings in Mechanicville, upstate New York, were found dead alongside their mother and grandmother after a welfare check on June 23. The children were Harper Harmon, 13; Hudson Harmon, 11; and 10-year-old twins Gavin and Gracelynn Harmon. A toxicology report reportedly found kratom and diphenhydramine, an ingredient in Benadryl, in all four children. Police said three of the children died after being poisoned, while Gavin was stabbed as he reportedly tried to defend himself. Police identified the children’s mother, Sarah Myers, 44, and grandmother, Amy Steadman, 64, as responsible before they died by suicide. Notes left behind alleged the children needed protection from their father, but investigators said they found no evidence supporting those claims. Their father has denied the allegations.
