Christian Eriksen has left Wolfsburg by mutual consent, three months after collapsing while playing for Denmark in a friendly against Ukraine. The 34-year-old midfielder has not played since the incident and has chosen to return closer to his family in Denmark. Wolfsburg said he had been following a pathway towards a possible return to football. Eriksen joined Wolfsburg in September 2025 after leaving Manchester United. He made 34 appearances last season, scoring three goals and providing 10 assists, but could not prevent the club’s relegation from the Bundesliga. The Denmark international, who previously suffered a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, has not announced his retirement from professional football.
