Abeokuta North Commissions Community Projects, Enforces Open-Grazing Bye-Law

Abeokuta North Local Government has commissioned projects across its 16 wards and four major communities. The projects cover schools, healthcare, rural electrification, water supply, sanitation, roads and public facilities. The council also signed a bye-law banning open grazing and requiring herders and livestock owners to register. According to the local government, the law is intended to reduce farmer-herder conflicts, protect farms, improve safety and support environmental protection. Traditional rulers, security agencies, farmers, herders, market groups, transport unions and youth representatives attended a sensitisation programme on the new livestock rules. Residents were also informed about regulations against indiscriminate waste disposal, encroachment on government property and illegal occupation of public land. The council chairman said the administration would continue to combine infrastructure projects, public engagement and local legislation to improve living conditions and strengthen community security in Abeokuta North.
